German immigration law applies to all foreigners. Much of the immigration law is stipulated in the Residence Act.

"The German Residence Act regulates the entry, the stay, the termination of the residence and the employment of foreigners. This Act serves to steer and limit the influx of foreigners into the Federal Republic of Germany."  (Federal Ministry of the Interior)

Who is affected by the German Immigration Law?

Visitors who come as tourists. → Tourist Visa (Schengen Visa)

Visitors who come on business. → Business Visa (Schengen Visa)

Foreigners who come to seek work. → Job Seeker Visa

Foreigners coming for starting working on a job. → Employment Visa

Foreigners who want to set up a business and investors. → Entrepreneur’s Visa

Foreigners who want to attend school or university. → Student Visa

And all family members who come to Germany for a visit or accompany the main applicant to Germany.

What are the risks?

Any infringement of the immigration law may result in the denial of entry.

You may be subjected to a fine.

You may be expelled out of Germany.

You may be sanctioned with a lifelong entry ban.
